We raised £2,602 for Alzheimer's Society with your help, thank you!

2021 was a difficult year for fundraising, a Charities Aid Foundation survey of UK charities found that 48% of the charities asked agreed that the pandemic has changed fundraising forever. Moving towards virtual efforts and away from group activities such as pub quizzes or coffee mornings has had an adverse effect on opportunities throughout the pandemic. 32% of charities said they had experienced a reduction in volunteers, the lifeblood of every charity’s fundraising effort.
At WiFi SPARK, we chose to raise money throughout 2021 for Alzheimer’s Society. The charity does extraordinary work to raise awareness of dementia, provide support for those living with dementia and the ones who care for them, as well as funding life-changing research to beat the syndrome.
We developed an optimistic fundraising plan at the beginning of the year that planned for us to be back in the office encouraging the team to engage in a variety of day-to-day activities, however, this was pushed and pushed with the team not returning to HQ until September! This meant monthly quizzes, bingo nights, and games of scattagories all from behind our screens.
Whilst this may not have been what we’d envisioned, everyone’s enthusiasm kept morale up and allowed us to stay connected whilst working from home.
Other milestones of the year included one of our spritely Sparkies running an Ultra Marathon and raising over £500 for the charity!
We held raffles, sweepstakes and a very competitive ‘how many mini eggs are in the jar?’ for Easter. But none of it would have been possible without the endless support of the WiFi SPARK team and everyone that donated, so, thank you. It’s because of that support that we are able to proudly say we surpassed our £2,000 goal to raise an incredible £2,602.
This year we’ll be turning our efforts a bit more local and helping St Petrock’s, Exeter’s leading charity for helping the homeless.
Keeping fundraising ideas fresh and interesting is a challenge we’re excited to get started on.
