Free to Trusts, Free to Patients. SPARK® Media Print Roll Out Begins

Patients now benefit from free newspapers and magazines on their own device while in hospital.

In light of recent events, we are all battling against a new health challenge, the Coronavirus pandemic. Our NHS is inundated with more cases every day and the staff are doing a sterling job in looking after us. Just like many others, here at WiFi SPARK we want to give something back and do our bit to support those who need it.

We are offering a service completely free to selected hospitals for all of their patients. We are enabling everyone in the hospitals to have access to our digital entertainment solution: SPARK® Media: Print. This enables people to access digital versions of the most popular magazines available, on their own devices.

21 sites have already gone live with the service, including Cardiff & Vale University Health Board, East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust. To use the service, people in these hospitals will be able to visit the webpage: wifilounge.co.uk which will show digital magazines available to read free of charge.

At a time like this it is important to reduce touch-points and minimise the risk of infection. By making a simple change using technology, patients will no longer be handling physical newspapers and magazines, thus reducing the risk of passing the virus to other people. They will be able to entertain themselves while social distancing as well as stay up to date with all news in the outside world. The service is also freely available to staff and will remain accessible until the end of 2020.
